Teaching that sticks.
Learning that's phenomenal.

I partner with elementary and middle schools to design learning kids remember — grounded in evidence, built for real classrooms, and centered on every child.

What I do

Four ways I move your school forward.

Rethinking a unit, growing your teachers, making sense of your data, or running a great PD day — we start with your goals and design backward from what's best for kids.

01

Curriculum & program design

Units, programs, and scope-and-sequence built around clear outcomes and how children actually learn — not just what fills a pacing guide.

02

Teacher coaching & PD

Job-embedded coaching that builds real capability in your teachers — practical, respectful of their time, and usable Monday morning.

03

Strategy & assessment

Set meaningful measures, read your assessment data honestly, and decide what to do next with confidence.

04

Workshops & PD days

Hands-on sessions for your staff — from a single workshop to a full professional-development day built around your priorities.

About

Learning, done right, is phenomenal.

PHenomenal Learning LLC is an independent consultancy for K-8 schools.

It's built on a simple belief: when learning is designed with care, it changes what children can do. I bring that lens to every partnership — curious, evidence-driven, and genuinely invested in your teachers and students.

The name is a nod to phenomenon-based learning — the idea that kids learn best when ideas connect to the real world instead of sitting in isolated silos.

Who you're working with

Meet Tommy Clayton, M.Ed.

Classroom Teacher Instructional Coach Curriculum Specialist K–8

I've spent more than a decade in K–8 education — teaching the lesson, coaching the teacher who teaches it, and designing the curriculum behind it.

That range is the whole point. Having sat on every side of the work, I know how a great idea looks in a planning meeting and what it actually takes to make it land in a real classroom on a Tuesday.

I started PHenomenal Learning because the best thinking in education too often stays stuck in one room or one binder. My job is to help your school turn it into something every teacher can use and every student can feel — practical, evidence-based, and built for real classrooms, not ideal ones.

Whether it's a single workshop or a year-long partnership, I bring the same thing to the table: deep respect for your teachers' time and a relentless focus on what helps kids learn.

Let's build something that lasts.

Tell me what your school is working on and where you'd like it to go.
